Whatever happened to the aggressive capitalists of yore?
The businesses that might profit the most from a bill that would allow some liquor stores to open on Sunday are lobbying against it.
Coors Brewery, for one. The beer distributors, for another. The largest retail liquor stores like Applejack and Argonaut, too. And of course the smaller family-owned stores.
But given the bizarre, through-the-looking-glass world of Colorado liquor laws, the businesses might not be as irrational as they seem.
No, they're not worried about student drinking or despoiling the Sabbath. They're looking down ...
