FOR generations, the Encyclopaedia Britannica has been a byword for knowledge and accuracy.
But at last it has been caught out - by a boy of 12.
Lucian George found no fewer than five errors in its chapters on Eastern Europe and wrote to the firm's managing editor to point them out.
Now he has received a letter from the company's headquarters in Chicago promising to correct the mistakes in their next edition.
'Lucian didn't expect to hear anything back but now he has got a reply saying he is quite right,' his father Gabriel said last night.
