KOHLER -- At some point last weekend, Herbert Kohler's long desire for bringing the U.S. Open golf tournament to Whistling Straits yielded to his instincts as president and CEO of Kohler Co. since 1972.
That moment came when PGA of America officials extended an official offer to hold the 2010 and 2015 PGA Championships at Whistling Straits -- site of the wildly successful 2004 championship. In addition, they sweetened the pot for Kohler by including the 2020 Ryder Cup matches in the deal, providing the area can triple its hotel capacity.
