Jan. 27--TOKYO -- Drug companies and other firms are hoping to cash in in a big way on medicines and amelioration products for hay fever this year, as a record amount of cedar pollen is predicted.
Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. launched its new Benza rhinitis drug in December, with a projection that sales of its sinus infection drugs will exceed 2 billion yen during this season, almost the same as the record sales of such drugs it posted in fiscal 2002.
GlaxoSmithKline K.K. brought to the market its new Contac rhinitis drug and began advertising it on television in October.
