Jan. 27--SPRINGFIELD -- The Harry Hill Bridge has survived its first month of traffic following the latest attempt to keep it operable until state funding is available for replacement.

Concerns about the North Springfield bridge prompted town officials to limit traffic to one lane and briefly consider its closure. But repairs completed last month have more than held their own, Public Works Director Harry Henderson said.

"It's a much more substantial repair" than previous efforts, said Henderson, who credited Miller Construction with going "above and beyond" in its efforts and also coming in on time and on budget.
