Be your own expert.(Step Up)(Letter to the Editor)

I read Meg's editorial in the September/October issue. As a 58-year-old woman, who at 48 weighed over 300 pounds and lost 130 pounds over a period of two years, I don't need experts to tell me "the way." In fact, people are disappointed with my answer when they ask, "How did you do it?" and "How have you kept it off?"

I eat a balanced diet, including as much whole grains as possible (a breakfast with rolled oats helps) and a variety of fruits and vegetables year round. I count calories daily by keeping a running tally in my head.
