Five of six trade unions at Czech Railways sign collective agreement

Prague. January 28. INTERFAX EUROPE - The management of Czech national rail operator Ceke drahy (CD) and five of the firm's six trade unions signed a collective agreement for 2005 on Thursday after several weeks of bargaining, CD spokesman Petr Stahlavsky told Interfax.

Only the Federation of Engine Drivers (FSCR) refused to accept the 5 % increase in nominal wages offered by management for this year, insisting instead on a 7 % hike and a special 20 % wage supplement for the engine driver division, says the spokesman.
