There's at least a shelf full of books that painstakingly document every guitar, amplifier, and effect device for every riff of Eric Clapton's illustrious career. To re-create the searing guitar tone of his classic hit "Layla," these books would instruct you to run out and get a '67 Stratocaster and plug it into a Fender Champ amp of the same vintage.
