The progress that has been made in green building over the past 10 years is nothing less than astounding. To have even suggested in the mid-90s that the National Association of Home Builders would embrace--let alone sponsor--a set of guidelines on green building would have been dismissed as impossible. Yet here we are. NAHB, following the wave of more than two-dozen homebuilder associations that have embraced green building, is poised to release its voluntary NAHB Model Green Home Building Guidelines in early 2005.

A GROWING AGENDA
To understand just how significant this step is, it is helpful to look at some history. ...
