First of all, what is LEED? LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, and it's the certification process used to vet project designs, as well as individuals, that demonstrate a commitment to sustainability by meeting specific professional standards.
The certification, performed under the auspices of the U.S. Green Building Council in Washington, DC, is available for several types of projects:
New commercial construction and major renovation; existing building operations; commercial interiors; core and shell; homes; neighborhood development.
