The New South Wales Council of Social Service has outlined its budget priorities. On 3 February 2005, the council met with the state's new Treasurer, Andrew Refshauge. It demanded an increase in spending on preschools, mental health and affordable housing. The council said land tax should be imposed on owner-occupier homes. Gary Moore, the Council's CEO, said the State Government may ditch the vendor tax on investment properties. The vendor tax has been a political headache for the Government.
