Feb. 3--PAWTUCKET -- Backers of a plan to make the Pawtucket-Central Falls train station public property appeared before a City Council subcommittee yesterday to seek the power to acquire the station by eminent domain.
It was a tough sell.
Richard C. Davis, executive director of the Pawtucket Foundation, and Michael D. Cassidy, director of the Department of Planning and Redevelopment, were peppered with questions from council members skeptical about taking the dilapidated station by eminent domain now that a private developer is willing to buy it and eliminate the blight.
