SYDNEY, Feb 4 Asia Pulse - Shares in HHG plc (ASX:HHG) shot up more than four per cent in early trades after the UK-based financial services group confirmed it had received an approach for a possible takeover offer.
HHG - the former UK arm of Australia's AMP Ltd (ASX:AMP) - said privately owned Resolution Life Group had made an approach, which or may not lead to an offer for either the whole of HHG or just its subsidiary Life Services.
"The terms and conditions of any such offer, if made, are uncertain," the company said.
The announcement confirms recent market speculation that HHG would be an attractive takeover target.
