SCOTS are being forced to pay pounds 8million a year to get their own money from cashpoints.
The massive profits are being pocketed by firms behind the boom in automated teller machines (ATMs) that make customers pay for withdrawals.
Machines charging between pounds 1 and pounds 5 have been set up in some of Scotland's poorest areas and rural locations in the last three months.
More than 1500 of the 4500-plus cashpoints in Scotland charge.
But they will outnumber free-to-use cash machines within four years.
