BOSTON -- As President George Bush released some $100 million in emergency funds for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) this week, New England Council President James Brett joined regional business and political leaders in calling for the release of the remaining $99 million in funding.
"It is critical that the President release all of the emergency funds. This winter has set many records in cold temperatures and snowfalls in the northeast. The need for this funding could not be any clearer," said James T. Brett, President and CEO, The New England Council.
