RITA DOVE, newly named poet laureate of Virginia and former laureate of the United States, has published her 12th book of poems, her first collection since "On the Bus With Rosa Parks," which came out in 1999.
Dove is Commonwealth Professor of English at the University of Virginia, to which she gives "grateful acknowledgment for affording me time to concentrate on poetry." She has received many honors, including the Pulitzer Prize and the National Humanities Medal.
