This book on theater--like other books published by Nota Bene which identify the hundred most important films, novels, and children's books--is a well-written and useful guide to modern Quebec drama. The two authors, literature professors at the Cegep Sainte-Foy, clearly explain their thematic organization and their choices in a brief introduction that also justifies taking Gratien Gelinas's Fridolin as the starting point for a distinct and original Quebec dramaturgy in 1938.
