NEW YORK - American mainfloor patriotic offerings - which often include Old Glory motifs - are now extending into nautical and Western looks.
Tommy Hilfiger's holiday '92 collection is called Constitution and consists of many items that use the flag as its basis of design. Now he's carried the patriotic theme through to his spring '93 collection with crisper red, white and blue tones, and a nautical look.
"When it [patriotic items] is blatant, it becomes more of a novelty piece, making it more of a gift item," said Hilfiger, explaining why his holiday collection uses this theme more heavily. "When we go into spring, we do it more in a nautical way." ...
