"The reward for reviewing our past is the ability to measure our capacity to meet the demands of the future," wrote White Plains historian Renoda Hoffman in her book "The Changing Face of White Plains." Hoffman was born in Peekskill in 1909, but she arrived in White Plains with her family when she was only six months old and stayed ever since.
