ORLANDO, Fla. - Richard Averitt, the outspoken chief executive of Raymond James Financial Services Inc., boiled over here last Wednesday at the Atlanta-based Financial Services Institute's first annual meeting when a Securities and Exchange Commission official discussed a continuing civil-fraud case against the company.
Addressing Walter G. Ricciardi, district administrator for the SEC's Boston office, an annoyed Mr. Averitt said: "I find it awkward'' and "unfortunate'' that an SEC official revealed the commission's opinion on the case.
