AT LAST MONTH'S conference on directory publishing, held by Morgan-Rand in Philadelphia, one of the main items of discussion was data quality in published directories. One of the presentations was given by Barry Lee, former Editor of the Standard Periodical Directory at Oxbridge Communications.

Lee's talk, while geared to directory publishers, should be read closely by data researchers since his points regarding quality can be used to compare competing directories. His talk was titled: What's Hot: Quality and Technology, A Partnership for the Future. The following is an excerpt:
