When talk on the West Coast turns to sponsoning or lengthening a boat, one of the boatyards that has to be in the lead group for consideration is Fashion Blacksmith in Crescent City, Calif.
Every year, Fashion Blacksmith seems to be lengthening or widening a fishing boat. The most recent one was the Gemini, a blackcod and Dungeness crab boat owned by Crescent City fisherman Wes Taylor. The Gemini was hauled at Fashion Blacksmith in the early fall and left the yard around Thanksgiving, just in time for the start of the Dungeness crab season on Dec. 1.
