With a big cast and an upbeat, ebullient performing style, Syracuse Civic Theatre is aiming to delight family audiences with its production of the musical "Annie."
The nearly full house at the Carrier Theater on Friday's opening night enjoyed it.
Costuming and sets are attractive, and director/choreographer Jason Bumpus keeps the action clipping along.
Courtney Ellis played Annie on Friday. She brings strong acting talent and a strong singing voice to the role, and emphasizes Annie's poignant, vulnerable side more than most Annies do.
