MORE THAN A DECADE had passed since anyone in Arkansas tried to thwart the entry of a competing lender into a new market.
Larry Wilson, chairman, president and CEO of First Arkansas Bank & Trust, brought an end to that dry spell last month by filing a formal protest with the Arkansas State Bank Department.
Wilson believes his hometown market of Jacksonville is saturated and that a branch application by Little Rock's Bank of the Ozarks should be denied. What's more, he views the situation in Jacksonville as an example of a statewide problem.
