Feb. 16--Ready Pac Produce Inc., the third-largest fresh-cut produce company in the country, is shutting down its facility in Spreckels.
Ready Pac, based in Irwindale, plans to halt operations at the 19,000-square-foot plant in April, affecting about 110 employees, said Richard Gonzalez, vice president of manufacturing.
The company, which produces a line of ready-to-eat salad bowls and vegetable and dip packages in the Spreckels plant, announced its acquisition of Salad Time, Tanimura & Antle's packaged salad line, last May . At that time, executives said employees would not be affected by the deal.
