A NEW 20-year import contract for Garston Docks has helped its parent company Associated British Ports report a 4% rise in underlying pre-tax profits.
Across all its UK ports, AB secured 17 deals and more than 80 major customer contracts in 2004 including a pounds 2. 5m investment for Garston.
The company yesterday reported annual underlying profits of pounds 135. 4m, a figure ahead of analysts' expectations.
However, bottom-line profits were pounds 83m, against pounds 134. 3m a year earlier, as the group booked a pounds 44. 9m charge against its failure to secure permission to develop its Dibden terminal at ...
