The name has changed over the years, from First Wisconsin National Bank to Firstar Bank and most recently to U.S. Bank.
Now, one of the first suburban branch banks built in Madison is moving from the Hilldale Shopping Center across the street to the high-profile corner of Midvale Boulevard and University Avenue.
U.S. Bank is planning to build a new $1.4 million, 3,500 square foot branch office with three drive-up windows at 3609 University Ave. The building is designed by Potter Lawson architects of Madison.
The site was most recently home to an Amcore Bank branch. That building will be razed.
