"What's the point in worrying about what will happen years from now?" John asked his health teacher, Mr. Pei. "If I do that, what fun would today be?"
"I understand what you're saying, John," replied Mr. Pei, "but if you don't think about how what you do today will affect your body later - you will be sorry. The future will be here sooner than you think."
Mr. Pei is teaching his students about the long-term effects of drinking alcohol. And John's reaction to the lesson is all too common. But Mr. Pei tries to emphasize that where alcohol is concerned, a little forethought can go a long way in keeping the body healthy for a lifetime.
