Article: Don't wake us up before you go-go! As George Michael says he's quitting pop, a former fan says good riddance to a spoiled brat.

Byline: DAVID THOMAS

SO George Michael is threatening to retire.

Again.

Less than a year ago, he announced to the world that he had made enough money out of music. In future he would be releasing songs only on the internet, so that fans could download it for free.

Now, he has gone a stage further.

Announcing that he wants to write 'a truly contemporary musical', George says he's quitting pop music for good.

He told an audience at the Berlin Film Festival: 'That genre is dead, as far as I'm concerned. I just thought it was very important to explain myself before I disappear.' Disappear? But George, we thought you already had.
