The UK Food Standards Authority has issued a product recall after revelations that some foods contain a potentially deadly additive. The agency has disclosed that the Sudan I dye has been detected in some 350 food products in the UK. These include pizza, steak and kidney pie, and chilli con carne. The additive is believed to be a potential cause of cancer, and is also used in floor wax and to give colour to shoe polish.
