I.T. Strategies reports that in 2003, narrow and wide-format inkjet, together with color electrophotography (EP), generated worldwide revenues of $71 billion from sales of hardware, media, and chemistry. By 2008, the firm predicts, digital color revenues will total more than $121 billion, a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11 percent.
Chemistry (ink and toner), with revenues of almost $33 billion, made up almost half of all revenues in 2003. By 2008, revenues from chemistry are expected to hit $68 billion, about 56 percent of the market.
