Feb. 20--Rose Slaughter loves what she does.
A registered nurse, Slaughter works in medical esthetics, offering electrolysis, permanent makeup, mesotherapy (a nonsurgical fat-removal system) and laser skin care.
"It allows me to help my clients create a sense of confidence," she said.
Slaughter struck out on her own in 1989, opening Preferred Electrology East.
She said she's Memphis's sole African-American electrologist.
But as an African-American female business owner, she's not so rare.
