WASHINGTON, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumer advocates called on Congress to oppose new legislation introduced to curb the diversion of over-the-counter products containing pseudoephedrine to the illicit manufacturing of methamphetamine. In a letter to Congress, the National Consumers League urged members to consider the inconvenience to millions of consumers that the "Combat Meth Act" would cause in its attempts to prevent a small number of criminals from misusing the products. If passed, the bills -- S. 103 in the Senate and its House companion, H.R. 314 -- would place pseudoephedrine in Schedule V under the Controlled Substances Act and require that products containing ...
