The city of Columbus, Ohio, is going blue to try to increase participation in its curbside recycling program.
Only about 10,000 households, 3.3 percent of the city, participate in the city's current recycling program, Mayor Michael Coleman said. The city is rolling out blue-bag recycling in certain neighborhoods to try to improve that figure.
"Recycling is a key need to protect our environment and extend the life of our landfill, and past efforts can only be described as well-intentioned but ineffective,'' Coleman said.
