LUKASHENKO PRAISES PROGRESS, SLAMS FAILURES OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR 2004

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has an ambiguous view on the Belarusian economy performance in 2004, despite that the key targets of socio-economic development were fulfilled.

"Only 1 out of 16 major economic targets was missed and this is a good result. We have made an achievement sufficient to implement a five-year plan and even to attain more," Lukashenko said Friday when opening a conference on socio-economic development for 2004.
