The EUs industrial new orders index rose by 11% in December 2004 compared with the previous month, according to figures published on February 23 by Eurostat, the EU's statistics office. This follows increases of 0.4% in November 2004 and 1.0% in October 2004. Compared to December 2003, industrial new orders increased by 18.9%. The average industrial new orders index for the year 2004 compared to 2003 grew by 8.3%.
