Lamson & Sessions Co. will probably not find a buyer.
Five months deep in a strategic review, Cleveland-based Lamson is still pondering a sale with investment banker Brown Gibbons Lang & Co. (BGL). The $140 million market cap firm makes thermoplastic products, such as enclosures for telecommunications wires, electrical outlets and sewer pipes.
But Lamson's closest competitor, $25 million market cap PW Eagle Inc., which makes cap polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe, tried to sell last year and couldn't. Additionally, Lamson's other top competitors have closed few deals lately, and the deals they have done are small.
