PORTSMOUTH - Norcom dominated the battle of elite frontcourts and roared past Bethel 85-75 in an Eastern Region quarterfinal Wednesday night at Norcom.
The 6-foot-9 Vernon Macklin scored 27, several on dunks, and the 6-5 George Degroat delivered 23 for the Greyhounds (20-6), who will face Landstown (22-4) in the region semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Churchland.
The winner earns a berth in the Group AAA state tournament.
Plagued by foul trouble and limited touches, Bethel's 6-7 Duke Crews and 6-8 Jamel McLean combined for just 17 points.
