Mar. 2--The Port of Palm Beach is anxiously watching the outcome of next week's slots referendum in Broward and Miami-Dade counties, as are executives at Palm Beach Casino Line, the principle day cruise operator at the port.
They worry that if slot machine gambling takes off after the March 8 vote, residents of Palm Beach County could decide to drive south for their casino entertainment, rather than take a day cruise.
