EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
COMMERCIAL enrollment in the 10 largest HMO plans in Southern California held steady over the past year at 7.6 million. In Los Angeles County, enrollment dropped by 384,600 members, or 13.1 percent for the like period.
Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc. retained the top spot, holding a sizable lead over the rest of the list. PacifiCare moved into the second spot by adding 350,000 Southern California members, switching positions with last year's No. 2 Blue Cross of California, which lost 150,000 members in the region.
