At the end of last year, we proclaimed it the "Year of High-Speed Access." In 2003, high-speed access came of age. High-speed access reached a penetration rate of about 28 percent of households with high-speed access, and both cable modems and xDSLs were growing very quickly. Things change in a year. This has been the year of the telcos and xDSL. High-speed access in total grew well, reaching in 2004 a penetration rate of nearly 35 percent; however, it is running behind our forecast, and cable modems are continuing to be the weak sister.
