AND THE AWARD GOES TO ... The Center for Nursing Advocacy recently presented its Golden Lamp Awards for the best and worst media portrayals of the nursing profession for 2004. The awards highlight portrayals--from television to the print media--that the center believes deserve recognition, for better or worse.
Research shows that the news and entertainment media greatly affect public views and actions concerning health care, so improving the media image of nursing is a critical step in resolving the nursing shortage, the center said.
