MILWAUKEE -- Heartland Advisors, Inc. is proud to announce the addition of Robert A. Rudell to the Heartland Funds Board of Directors. Mr. Rudell most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer and Chairman of the Management Committee for Zurich Scudder Investments. He became the 5th member of the Heartland Funds Board of Directors, effective February 18, 2005. With the addition of Mr. Rudell:
--Four of the five, or 80%, of the Board members are Independent
--The Board is chaired by an Independent Director, Lawrence M. Woods
--Multiple Independent Directors qualify as Financial Experts (one is required by regulation).
