SCOTTISH Equitable's new rates prove that the critical illness market is stable after two rocky years, according to an IFA.

Scottish Equitable Protect has mounted a comeback in guaranteed rates after nearly two years out of the market. It withdrew from the guaranteed rate market for critical insurance and life insurance with CI around April and May of 2003.

Kim Barrett, proprietor of Essex-based KS Barrett & Associates, said: "It is an obvious attempt to attract new business, but it does indicate that rates are stablising.
