Cincinnati City Council's Republican members want to end the group's annual practice of allowing pay raises for itself that don't require a council vote.
Council Members Chris Monzel and Sam Malone proposed a charter amendment Wednesday that, if approved by voters, would require any City Council wage increase be approved by at least six members.
Currently, the salary is set in the city's charter and is based on two-thirds of the amount given to county commissioners. State law, in turn, sets that amount.
