It is hard to win when you shoot 36 percent from the field and commit 21 turnovers.
But the Jacobs girls basketball team found a way with hard- nosed, smothering defense.
The Golden Eagles, who held Crystal Lake South without a basket for the first 5 minutes, 18 seconds of the game, defeated the Gators 48-36 in a Fox Valley Conference game at Gator Alley Wednesday night.
"Defense was the highlight for us tonight," said Jacobs coach Ed Haugens. "We worked our tails off on defense and didn't give them many good shots."
