Australian-listed Highlands Pacific has significantly increased its resource estimate for the Kainantu gold project in Papua New Guinea. Highlands has indicated that the project now has an inferred resource of 1.77 million ounces of gold. The Kora deposit is estimated to contain 820,000 ounces, up from a previous estimate of 300,000 oz, while the Irumafimpa deposit has around 940,000 oz. Highlands' shares closed $A0.025 higher on 4 March 2005, at $A0.50.
