Article: Ontario's health councils closing, 14 local networks created.

TORONTO -- The management health care delivery will shift many functions of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care to 14 Local Health Integration Networks. The government will close down the province's 16 district health councils on March 3.

In addition to taking over the planning and coordinating functions of the health councils, the CHINS will also be responsible for funding of health care delivery within their geographic areas and taking over some functions of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
