While the majority of civil work in Iran continues to be for small projects carried out by small and medium-sized contractors, the additional funds released by booming oil revenues have fuelled an upturn in larger schemes. For civils contractors, this will mainly result in subcontract work in the hydrocarbons, power, petrochemicals and industrial sectors. However, there will also be a handful of infrastructure opportunities.
