Safety, access to Downtown Milwaukee drive Marquette Interchange construction schedule
With tens of thousands of commuters driving into Downtown Milwaukee every week day, safety and the best possible access to downtown during the reconstruction of the Marquette Interchange were priorities in determining staging for the $810-million project.
Originally completed in 1968 and currently carrying more than 300,000 vehicles per day, the Marquette Interchange in Milwaukee is being rebuilt by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). Work started last year, and is expected to be completed in 2008.
